To provide the most flexibility and options to our members, WWF Travel is offering two departures of our always-popular voyage along coastal Alaska. The first departure runs May 12-19, 2012, and includes a $500 per person discount and free airfare between Seattle and Alaska. The second departure is during the high season, running June 9-16, 2012.

Alaska in May: There’s something magical about the way spring blankets Alaska in May. After spending season after season here, we’ve found springtime weather to be delightful, with day after day of clear skies and newly blooming wildflowers starting to carpet the landscape. Temperatures are slightly cooler than later in the summer, and the most popular destinations are less crowded.

Alaska in June: June sees slightly warmer temperatures – warm jackets and hats are still the norm, especially when you get as close to glacier as our nimble expedition ship can! This is a popular month for families to travel after the school year ends. And Denali National Park opens in June; an optional extension to tour the famed park is available to our June guests.

Whether you pick our May or June trip, you’re bound to see some fantastic wildlife. On both departures in the past, we’ve seen brown bears foraging along the shoreline, whales feeding after long migrations and thousands of shorebirds nesting on rocky outcrops. We’ve spied sea otters clutching shells as they floating on their backs, bobbing up and down in the gentle sea. We’ve heard colonies of sea lions barking in surround-sound stereo and the crash of a glacier ice as it calves into the sea.
