Species spotlight: Blue-footed booby

Habitat: Arid, tropical and subtropical islands off the Pacific coast of South America.
Physical description: Goose-sized with a wingspan nearly five feet in length. Their vibrant blue feet are used in a showy mating dance ritual.
Threats: Habitat loss and egg collecting.
Interesting fact: Blue-footed boobies have permanently closed nostrils specialized for diving.
