What’s in Your backpack?

What does WWF Galápagos Program Officer Irma Larrea stash in her daypack when she’s “in the field” in the famed Ecuadorian islands?
“During my trips to the field, I meet a variety of people that work with us or support our different projects in the Galápagos Islands. So, I pack for inter-island trips, technical meetings and local community events,” says Larrea, a native Ecuadorian.
We asked her what she brings along when she hits the road. Her essentials:
- Souvenirs. Small WWF panda pins and hats are nice introductory gifts
- A laptop and a good camera are a must!
- Marine Life of Galápagos – a guidebook I use to identify different species while travelling.
- A lantern. When you’re off the beaten path it can get really dark!
- Information about WWF’s work in the Galápagos Islands to share with stakeholders, authorities and local communities.
- A windbreaker for the rainy days.
- A hat and lots of sunscreen.
