Top Shot: The Amazon

“One of my favorite experiences was meeting a local family along a small tributary of the Ucayali deep inside Pacaya-Samira Reserve. It was mid-morning when we met a man in a small dugout canoe who invited us to follow him to his home just around the bend. His home consisted of several buildings standing just above the water level on stilts and connected to one other by a series of floating plank walkways. He showed us his morning’s catch, which included a variety of fish and a small anaconda. While we talked with him and his family along their dock, we spotted this brilliant bush anole posing just a few feet away.”
