New tour: Rain Forest & Reefs aboard Le Levant, January 2010
Jul 13th, 2009 by wwftravel
Just added! Tour four Central American countries and a Colombian island as you travel across two oceans and through the Panama Canal on our newly added Rain Forest & Reefs voyage January 3-17, 2010. Traveling aboard the well-appointed expedition ship Le Levant, you’ll explore rain forests by Zodiac and on foot, go snorkeling right off the beach of rarely visited Caribbean Islands and explore the Mesoamerican Reef—a WWF priority place for protection. And take a daytime transit to observe the fascinating workings of the canal.
Tour highlights include:
• Belize: Snorkeling and diving outings at Lighthouse Reef and Big Drop Off—two of the Western Hemisphere’s top reefs.
• Honduras: Snorkeling right off white sand beaches on the island of Roatán.
• Colombia: A visit to Colombia’s mountainous Old Providence Island, a stellar snorkeling and diving site with a rich history of piracy in the 1600s.
• Panama: A stop at Escudo de Veraguas, a small group of islands 10 miles off the coast of mainland Panama, where rare birds and pygmy sloths make their home; cultural visits to San Blas Islands to interact with the native Kuna people; and visits to the unspoiled Darién Province and Isla Coiba, the largest island in Central America.
• Costa Rica: Zodiac rides and guided hikes along the Claro River to look for monkeys, lizards, toucans and other birds, plus offshore snorkeling.
