Two teams are going out to do surveys of sites that are about an hour by boat south of were we are staying. I am staying back to provide Chris and Jessica with some more information for their partner in this endeavor, National Geographic. While I'd always like to be out on the reef it is important to tell the story of what we are doing so people can hear it and understand how it is not only important for Takina Wai and Fijians, but also for communities around the planet.
By sharing our project with NPR and other media outlets we hope to increase people's awareness of this pressing climate change problem. We need to start planning how the United States (the largest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world at 25%) will reduce its emissions of greenhouse gases but also how we will start preparing for, and responding to, the climate change we have already caused.
