Sunday, February 25thBefore you start a field project there is much to do. You have to make sure you have your gear, know where you'll be going and share protocols and practices. You also want to get a really good night's sleep. Sleep was not in the cards tonight. There was an awesome thunderstorm. Not only does a thunderstorm on a Pacific island include the normal grandeur of bright lightening, crashing thunder and pelting rain (gallons in this case) but you also get the more proximal danger of crashing coconuts, dropping from trees with what could literally be terminal velocity. We are hoping the rain stops soon so we'll have good visibility for diving tomorrow.
