UK Met Office: This Decade is Warmest on Record
The UK Met Office today released data showing that the last ten years -- what it calls "the noughties" -- were the warmest period in the 160 year record.
The record is maintained by the Met Office Hadley Centre and the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, and the findings are consistent with data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and NASA in the U.S.
The UK Met Office said in a press release that the data "highlight that the world continues to see global temperature rise, most of which is due to increasing emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, and clearly shows that the argument that global warming has stopped is flawed."
